A string of measures will be introduced by the Examinations Commission at the 2021 G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination to be held from February 7 onwards to ensure that inconveniences faced by the students will be at a minimum.

Examinations Commissioner General L. M. D. Dharmasena said the measures have been taken following experience gained at the grade five scholarship examinations held last week.

He said one of the measures would be to provide an advance notice to the students that the exam will be beginning in ten minutes.

The chief invigilator in the examination hall will be required to adjust their time and accordingly inform the other supervising staff and the students to adjust the timing so that all students and staff will be following the same time instead of different times, which would later lead to disputes.

The measure would be taken following complaint after the grade five exam that the papers were handed out at different times and collected earlier than schedule.

The staff would be required to inform the students 15 minutes and ten minutes prior to the papers being handed out, five minutes before the papers are collected and once again when the papers are about to be collected.

The activities in the exam halls will also be recorded. The chief invigilator would be required set up a smart phone or other video recording device to obtain the recording. Students had been warned not to bring any additional equipment or devices into the hall.
