There are many

Sri Lankan’ who have gone one to shine globally during the pandemic. Whilst Sri Lanka is battling the pandemic with all most thirteen thousand dead and five hundred thousand infected with the deadly virus, there are some Sri Lankan’s who continue to defy the odds and make brand Sri Lanka proud.

One such personality is YohaniDiloka De Silva. More popularly known as Yohani, is singer, songwriter, rapper, music producer, Youtuber.  Started her career singing as at a Rotaract event, today is a household name not only in Sri Lanka but globally with over a 122 million likes on YouTube.

In my view an entrepreneur who became famous on TikTok and trading musical instruments is now the brand Ambassordor for the global brand Samsung is the latest on Yohani.

Sri Lankan Yohani cross 122+ million likes......boost to brand Sri Lanka

Brand Sri Lanka – new life

Given that celebrities like AmitabBatchan falling love with ‘MANIKE Mage Hithe’ brand Sri Lanka has got a boost in India which is the biggest market for Sri Lanka Tourism.

We must now build in this awareness and drive regional tourism. We have to catch on to every single opportunity that spreads positivism globally as all we see is ‘bad news.

Specially in Sri Lanka where the local news is always on corruption of sugar, mafia at NRMA on the erasing of data, power agreements signed at midnight, the plight of poor farmers due to the arbitrary decision on fertilizer just to name a few. Let’s accept it that the government has not lived up to the expectations of the 6.9 million people who voted them into power. In short the policy makers do not have the skill set to lead the country at the current challenging times. The question is how do we motivate our self in this environment.

1) Mind walk

This is a technique where one engage the neighbourhood and there by get self motivated.  Just take a walk down a road and connect to the people around you and the environment. The technique is to focus on your senses and keeping them alert so that different stimulants are made to be picked up by your senses.

It can be a door opening of your neighbour, the smell of food in the food cart parked near the walking track. Oberserve the Colours of the sky and hear the rustle of the leaves.

Pick up the birds chirping to the wind against your skin. This kind of mind conscious require conscious training. This is defined mind walking and it helps motivate your self. Try it and see if it works for you.

2) Go to old emails

Develop a separate file on acknowledgments and thank you notes you have got. When you are feeling down go to them and read them. This helps you to regain the lost sense of worth in you. It also helps you to re focus on the path that you have tred and done well. If you cannot find these notes go back to your school life and days you did sports. Look at the victories that you have had and how many times you have fallen but got up and went on to victory. This pull you up from where you are.

3) Listen to music

I am sure you have done this, but let me say this again. Music is fantastic leveler. Go back to the music that you like even if it’s not hip now. The good memories come back when you listen to them and this brings out the positive adrenaline in to your body. It wakes you up. It can also get your creative juices flowing and this will make you get inspired.

4) Stand in the sun

This is a technique that brings out the best in you. If you are feeling down and you get exploded to the sun don’t you feel good. Do this at office too if you feeling demotivated. Go to the balcony or the road and look up and stand in the sun. Come back in and have a glass of water and get back to work. You will feel better.

5) Wearing a mask a life style

As the country opens on the 1st of October, let’s make wearing a mask, keeping a social distance a way of life. Please understand that vaccination will not protect you. It will only make you less ill.

Next step

Let’s get back to the usual life as quickly as possible. Let support the kids to go back to school. It’s very important that we start our usual routines at the gym. Will Sri Lanka loose more life’s, yes we will but life must move on. We cannot be standing still.
