Seven from Central Province in Sri Lanka Under-19 squad

Seven players from Central Province made it into the 26-member Sri Lanka Under-19 squad for the Youth Asia Cup in UAE, the Youth World Cup in West Indies, which will take place during early 2022.

Three players each from St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota and Trinity College along with one player from St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy were among the selected players. This is the first time most number of players were selected from the Hill Capital.

Traveen Mathews, Chamidu Wickramasinghe and Lahiru Abeysinghe represent St. Anthony’s while from Trinity Pawan Pathiraja, Matheesha Pathirana and Vibahavith Ehelapola have made it to the squad. Maleesha Silva is the only other player among the seven, representing St. Sylvester’s.

These players were selected from the warm-up matches played at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium and the Asgiriya Stadium one month ago with 75 players grouped in to five teams.

The Central Province team was coached by former Trinity Lion and national player, Sachith Pathirana with Amila Pinnaduwa assisting him along with district coaching staff Harsha Udara, Ananda Bandaranyake, Jagath Wasantha, Ajith Bandara and Migara Ekanayake. The sessions were coordinated by Central Province Cricket Association (CPCA).
