Minister Weerasekera loses two key institutions
View(s):Two key institutions that were under the purview of the Public Security Minister have been brought under the Defence Minister who is President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, according to a gazette notification issued by the Presidential Secretariat.
The Civil Security Department and the Multipurpose Development Task Force Department now come under the Ministry of Defence, according to a July 29-dated gazette announcement outlining revision of subjects and functions.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka Police and the National Police Academy are the institutions that come under the purview of Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara.
