Otters AC’s Somaratna clinch title in thriller
The All-Island Lanka Plate Snooker Tournament final encounter between Ryan Somaratna of Otters AC and Chamaka Clement of Kandy played at the MICH billiards table turned out to be a thriller with the nine-frame encounter going to the wire.
Somaratna pulled off a thrilling 5-4 win over Clement to clinch the title.
Somaratna, who is a former national snooker runner-up, playing with his experience he possess, struck back with vengeance after conceding the first three frames to Clement, who clinched the Kandy district title.
Somaratne went on to win the fourth and fifth frames with ease. Though conceding the sixth frame, he cruised through by coming out victorious in the remaining three frames with ease to emerge champion.
