Vibuda Wijebandara storms into the Men's Open singles final
Vibuda Wijebandara recorded a stunning win over top seed Sankha Athukorala in the Men’s Open singles semi final at the SSC Open Tennis Championship by two sets to one in tense clash at the SSC tennis courts in Maitland Place yesterday.
In the other semi final, Luca Knese, champion of the 105th Colombo Tennis Championship last week, secured a comfortable win over Kiran Vairawanathan.
In the Women’s Open singles semi finals, Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi entered the final recording easy wins against Tania Doloswala and Dinethya Dharmaratne respectively.
In the Girls Under-12 singles semi finals, Movindi Fernando and Gehansa Methandi booked their final berths by winning their ties against Githmi Fernando and Sandithi Uggodaarachchi respectively. The championship will be continued today.
