Two wards at the Nawagamuwa Divisional Hospital in Kaduwela have been allocated for COVID infected Ordinary Level (O/L) students from the Colombo district, Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne said recently.

Many people in the district are presently under quarantine due to COVID infected family members, and there is a possibility of detecting COVID cases among students sitting for the O/L exams, Mr. Yasaratne told the Education Times.

“There will be a male and female ward equipped with facilities, so students will be able to sit for the exams despite being infected with the virus. Arrangements are being finalised with the Examination Department and hospital authorities to ensure the safety of invigilators as well,” he said.

The 2020 O/L exams scheduled to be held in December last year was postponed due to the second wave of COVID in the country. The exams will begin tomorrow (March 01) and continue till March 10.
