Motorsports calendar to flag off with Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb on February 27
Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS), the governing body for motorsports in the country, released its annual calendar for 2021. The list includes 20 events organised and conducted by affiliated clubs of SLAS, with seven Super Cross, six Road Races, four Rallies, two Hill Climbs and a Rally Cross.
Out of the 20 events, five are organised by Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club, which includes three rounds of the Mirigama Championship and a motorbike event. Sri Lanka Autosport Drivers’ Association have taken the responsibility of organising four events, while Sri Lanka Association of Riders and Drivers will also hold responsible for four events.
Southern Motor Sports Club have undertaken three events, including the curtain-raiser, while Motor Racing Association, Ceylon Motor Sport Club and Colombo Motor Sport Club will manage an event each.
Sri Lanka’s most popular and elite motorsport event, the Fox Hill Super Cross will come under the SLAS, as in recent few years. The season is expected to flag off on February 27 with the Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb and will wind up with the Colombo Super Cross on November 7.
A senior spokesman of SLAS stated that the event calendar may subject to amendments, with omissions or inclusions set to take place due to various reasons.
