Court of Appeal ceremonial sitting postponed over COVID fears

The ceremonial sitting for 15 new Judges of the Court of Appeal (CA) scheduled for next week has been postponed indefinitely after several individuals at the Superior Court complex in Hulftsdorp tested positive for COVID-19.

The Ceremonial Sitting for eight CA Judges, including new CA President Arjuna Obeysekera was due to be held on January 26 while the other seven judges were to be accorded their ceremonial sitting on January 27. The decision to postpone the ceremonial sittings come after Superior Court complex several employees, including a security officer, tested positive for COVID-19 following PCR tests.
