Theatre goes to Negombo

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, theatre is getting back to normal and plays are now being organised in the outstation as well. As one of the first outstation locations to open theatres, a two-day theatre festival will be held in Negombo on October 3 and 4.

Prof. Ediriweera Sarathchandra’s “Pematho Jayathi Soko”, a play prescribed text for G.C.E A/L Sinhala syllabus will be staged at 8.30 am and 11 am on October 3 at the Rukmani Devi Memorial Theatre, Negombo.

The late playwright and actress Somalatha Subasinghe’s two children’s play ‘Thoppi Welenda and ‘Punchi Apita Den Therei”- “The Hat Seller and We Know it Now” will be staged at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm on Sunday October 4 at Negombo Town Hall auditorium.

An entertaining musicals, the plays are prescribed texts for Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and  Grade 6 and 7 Sinhala Syllabi.

Due to heath conc erns a limited seats will be available and tickets are now being available at Minal Digital Colour Lab in  Negombo.

The special shows are organised by Jude Srimal.
