An exhibition of photography titled ‘Humanity & Earth’ featuring Tashiya de Mel, Munira Mutaher, Shehan Obeysekera, Ramanathan Parilojithan, Sandranathan Rubatheesan and Tharmapalan Tilaxan will be on from September 4-13 at the Harold Peiris Gallery, Lionel Wendt Arts Centre.

The exhibition will showcase documentary photo stories that explore the environmental and climate crisis, culture, and humanity. It marks the conclusion of a two-year project in which the Goethe-Institut of Sri Lanka engaged with German documentary photojournalist, Andy Spyra, and German-Sri Lankan conceptual photography artist, Liz Fernando who mentored the group of photographers through a series of focused workshops and masterclasses.

In a related talk in the Humanity & Earth Talks series, the photographers will discuss their experiences over the past two years with journalist Smriti Daniel on Saturday, September 5 from 3-4 p.m. at the Harold Peiris gallery.

On the same day at 5 p.m., a talk also moderated by Smriti Daniel on ‘How Can We Tell Better Stories’ will explore how compelling narratives can emphasize a collective responsibility to our natural world. The panelists will be Dominic Sansoni, Anjali Watson, Dilrukshi Handunetti and Vinod Malwatte.

Due to limited seating, prior registration is required for these talks. To register, pls see: Humanityand Earth.com/register
