The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA guidelines put in place to curb the coronavirus pandemic have sent a ripple effect of delays and cancellations across the entertainment industry and have put the world of professional sports virtually on hold. With over 4 million cases of the virus worldwide, celebrities and civilians alike are still hunkering down at home and bracing for a growing number of diagnoses.

Quite a few popular singers, movie stars and celebrities have announced of the victims of Covid 19 pandemic. Popular singer Madona, Pink, bassist John Taylor and David Bryan of Bon Jovi are some of the leading stars found positive with Corona virus test. Some have already recovered from the disease.

Through the latest edition of her ‘quarantine diaries’ series, American singer-songwriter Madonna revealed that she has been tested positive for coronavirus antibodies. The 61-year-old singer took to Instagram to make the announcement and posted a video of herself on IGTV last week.

Popular singer Pink demanded more COVID-19 testing in the US, as she revealed she had contracted the virus on early April.

In an Instagram post, the star described the illness as ‘serious and real’ and said it affects the ‘young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor’. Bon Jovi keyboard player David Bryan confirmed his diagnosis on social media.

In an update, he said: ‘Day 17 and I’m getting better and my wife Lexi thankfully didn’t and won’t have symptoms. Stay healthy and stay inside. Thank you to all the Doctors and nurses and first responders and everybody helping everybody.’

The 70s popular British band Duran Duran bassist John Taylor confirmed his diagnosis on in April, posting on the band’s social media pages to say he had tested positive about three weeks prior.

‘Perhaps I am a particularly robust 59-year-old – I like to think I am – or was blessed with getting only a mild case of COVID-19 – but after a week or so of what I would describe as a ‘Turbo-charged Flu’, I came out of it feeling okay – although I must admit I didn’t mind the quarantine as it gave me the chance to really recover’ he said.

‘I am speaking out in answer to the enormous amount of fear being generated by the pandemic, some of it entirely justified, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with real loss and pain’ he added.

Singer Kanika Kapoor of ‘Baby Doll’ fame admitted that she has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Reportedly, she is the first Indian celebrity to have become a victim of COVID-19. Kanika urged her fans to take proper precautions amid the coronavirus outbreak.

‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Fate of the Furious’ actor Kristofer Hivju has revealed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Hivju is most famous for playing ‘Tormund Giantsbane’ on the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ (GoT).

The Bond girl Olga Kurylenko said she had tested positive for coronavirus in a message posted on Instagram on 15 March, urging fans to take the illness seriously.

The Ukrainian-born French actress, who starred in ‘Quantum Of Solace’, said: ‘Locked up at home after having tested positive for coronavirus. ‘I’ve actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously’

Actor Olivia Nikkanen, best known for her roles on shows ‘The Society’ and ‘Supergirl’ said she has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The 21-year-old actor shared a health update while appearing on Instagram Live with her co-star Kathryn Newton.

Grammy-winning American singer John Prine has been hospitalised for coronavirus and is in ‘critical’ condition, his family said. ‘After a sudden onset of Covid-19 symptoms, John was hospitalised’ his family said in a statement posted to the country and folk singer’s Twitter account. ‘He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical’ the statement said.

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed with the deadly Coronavirus or COVID-19 in Australia during March. They are fully recovered and cleared of Covid now.

Idris Elba, the British actor and musician said he has tested positive for COVID-19 on March 16 in a video posted on Twitter, and that although he had no symptoms so far he was isolating himself from others. - (SW)
