Four Pakistan cricketers, who represented three clubs in the First Class Tournament organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), are being stranded for over a month after the country came to a virtual standstill since March 20.

The four stranded cricketers, who turned out for Panadura SC, Nugegoda S&WC and Galle CC had already made arrangements to return to Pakistan soon after SLC indefinitely postponed the First Class Tournament, but were compelled to stay back after strict immigration rules were imposed by the authorities.

Later on the SLC pledged its support to the four Pakistani players by providing necessary facilities and even looking at possibilities of helping the players reach back their homes. SLC has contacted the three clubs, which the four players represented and had discussed matters with regard to future arrangements.

The officials of the three clubs have informed SLC that they are even looking at every possibility of sending the players back to Pakistan, even on board a cargo plane.

A total of 60 foreign players from different countries turned out for many clubs in the SLC First Class Tournament. Besides the four Pakistan players, the remaining cricketers have managed to get back to their home countries before COVID-19 imposed lockdowns across the globe, including Sri Lanka.
