Colombo Theatre Forum, as its first event for the year 2020 has organised  a discussion under the theme “the present and the future of the Sri Lankan Children Theatre” at 5 pm on January 28 at the German Cultural Centre.

Moderated by experienced playwright M. Safeer, the mediators of the discussion are Waruna Alahakoon, Sudharshan Bandara and Chamika Hathwalana.

The discussion will focus on present children’s dramas produced at school, provincial and national levels for various competitions. The issues such as fate of such productions, what sort of encouragement should be given to them after the competitions are over and which way these productions should be directed, would be discussed in depth.

Colombo Theatre Forum (CTF) is a space provided for those who are trying to find new dimensions in the theatre field. CTF is also a platform that brings theatre veterans, directors, script writers, actors and actresses, critics, lighting directors, back ground creators, stage managers, students and the spectators together to widen the horizons of local and foreign theatre.

Initiated in 2017 by the Inter Acts Art theatre group with the support of Goethe – Institut of Colombo, CTF has continued for over three years and it has conducted discussions on the topics relating to the past, present and the future of the theatre.

In addition to discussions about the foreign and the European theatre, in 2020 the CTF took another step forward to conduct discussions about the local theatre and screening performance of local productions. The forum will be held on the last Tuesday of every month from 5.00 pm at the German Cultural Centre.
