CCC School of Cricket emerge unbeaten Under-10 champs

CCC School of Cricket ‘Maroons’ won the Inter-Academy Under-10 Cricket Tournament

The Under-10 Inter-Academy Cricket Championship Tournament, organised and conducted by Colombo Premier Cricket Foundation, Colombo (CPCF), was successfully completed with the grand final between hosts CPCF and CCC School of Cricket ‘Maroons’ at the Dudley Senanayake School grounds, with CCC ‘Maroons’ winning easily by 7 wickets. Incidentally, CCC won the Under-9 Tournament last year.

The CCC School of Cricket, who won last year, too was unbeaten in the tournament. They beat Brendon Kuruppu CA, Asian Grammar School, S.A. Cricket Academy, Moratissa and Malinda Warnapura CA. In the semi-final CCC beat SSC ‘Blue’ by 131 runs.

At the awards presentation, CCC players Reshon Solomons won the Man-of-the-Final award, while, Tharun Ariyaratna won the Best Bowler’s award.

Other CCC players who did well in the tournament are – bowler Dushen Udawela, allrounders Rusandu Silva, Jahan Pathirana and Amad Afdhal.

The champion team was led by Rusandu Silva with Reshon Solomons as the vice captain. Others in the team were Tharun Ariyaratne, Jahan Pathirana, Thesika Goonatilleke, Dushan Udawela, Amad Afdhal, Rasula Madarasinghe, Esandu Rathnayake, Nesandu Adambarage, Vohara Kumanayake, Thurunu Mendis, Thiyon de Silva, Nathan Tousaint and Methuka Galapitage. The team was guided and coached by former Sri Lanka women’s player, Rangika Fernando.
