CIPM panel discussion on “Promising Prospects for HR in the Public Sector”

CIPM Sri Lanka has organised a panel discussion, comprising leaders in the public administration and human resource management field, titled “Promising Prospects for HR in the Public Sector” on February 11 at the CIPM Sri Lanka Head Office “HR House” in Colombo 5.

The keynote address will be delivered by Commissioner General of Labour – Ananda Wimalaweera.

Dhammika Fernando – Executive General Manager, Tropical Findings (Pvt) Ltd and President CIPM Sri Lanka; Dr. Lloyd Fernando – Senior Consultant, Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Group Captain Manoj Keppetipola – Commanding Officer, SLAF Camp Weerawila, Editor CIPM Executive Council and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM; Rohitha Amarapala – DGM HR and ER, Sri Lanka Insurance, Past President CIPM Sri Lanka and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM; and Soloman Sumanasooriya – DGM HRM National Water Supply and  Drainage Board, Council Member CIPM Executive Council and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM will be the panellists.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri – Professor in Management, Director and Chairman of the Board of Management, Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Immediate Past President CIPM and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM, the institute said in a media release.

“The public sector has a crucial role to play in taking the country on its path to progress and economic development. Efficient and effective human resource management policies as well as grassroot activities to hire, train, motivate, reward and retain a workforce that is second to none is the need of the hour,” said Mr. Fernando – President CIPM Sri Lanka.

“In this context, the prospects for human resource management professionals in the public sector are indeed promising. As the leading professional body in human resource management in the nation, it is our bounden duty to ensure that the public sector too is considered as an employer of choice, which is able to fulfill the dreams of aspiring human resource professionals,” he added.

The panel discussion, organized by the Standing Committee on External Affairs and National HR Initiatives, will be held from 9 am to 12 noon.
