Colombo International Institute of Higher Education CIIHE is now offering several pathways to study undergraduate programme business, hospitality or psychology in prestigious universities and colleges in Australia and New Zealand. Through its transfer programmes, students now have the opportunity of completing one or two years in Sri Lanka studying at CIIIHE and then moving to Australia or New Zealand to complete the rest of their qualification.

Benefits of a transfer programme

Most parents are worried about sending their children to study in a foreign country right after they leave school. In fact  starting a university degree and getting used to a new life alone away from home at the same time could be quite challenging. Transfer programmes are very useful in this situation. Your child could start the degree in Sri Lanka, get familiar with the studying and examination patterns of the foreign universities while at CIIHE and transfer after an year or two. During this time not only child becomes academically more confident but also mature enough to handle life facing challenges. Also for children and parents who are not 100% clear about the higher study paths, starting the programme in Sri Lanka will give the option of changing the field later on which is a very difficult and a costly affair if he/she was already abroad.

Finance wise most parents consider transfer programs as the best solution for international higher education. By studying one or two years in Sri Lanka you could save up to 5 to 6 million on course fee and accommodation. This money could be later on used for the postgraduate education of the child after he/she transfer to Australia or New Zealand.

Better preparation and saving time

Students who plan to study abroad have to spend months, sometimes up to an year for application process, obtaining and preparing documents for visa and waiting for university intakes. A smart choice  is to join the CIIHE transfer program while you are preparing and complete at least an year in Sri Lanka, so when you obtain visa and go to the university, you are already in the second year and a not even a day in your life was wasted preparing for the university.

Also most Sri Lankan students are used to a teacher centered education system and therefore find it difficult to adapt to the international university’s student centered lecturing and assessment methods. Many end up not performing well in the first couple of semesters until they get used to the system. CIIHE transfer students will learn as well as face the assessments similar to international universities and  therefore by the time they start their studies in New Zealand or Australia they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform well from day one.

For Students after O/L

CIIHE offers transfer programmes for students after O/L as well as for the students who have passed A/L. Students who have completed their O/L could join CIIHE International Foundation programmes and upon completion of the Foundation programme they could transfer to Australia and New Zealand to start their Bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Hospitality Management and Event Management. This is an excellent opportunity for those who would like to save money and time by skipping A/L which takes 2 years to complete and almost another year to get results and apply to university. Not to mention the money spend for school, tution and examinations fees of two years of A/L.

For Students after A/L

Students who have completed A/L could directly start the 1st year of the degree they wish to complete in Australia or New Zealand at CIIHE in Business Management, HR, Marketing, Psychology, Event Management or Hospitality Management. Based on the university they are able to transfer after studying in Sri Lanka for one year or two years. Most students prefer to study at least two years in New Zealand or Australia as this provides them an opportunity to obtain the possibility of working in these countries for about two years after they graduate.
