National Unity
National unity means, the ethnic groups in Sri Lanka such as Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Burghers, living together or cooperatively. In the past, when lots of kings ruled kingdoms,
there was considerable National Unity.
But today it has been damaged by a
group of terrorists. We must ignore that group and we should establish national unity islandwide.

As school pupils it is our duty to spread national unity islandwide. We must be friendly with Muslims and form a country with national unity for future generations.
Finally, I request you to love this country and form a brightful day for tomorrow. Let’s live together as one family.

My favourite subject
My favourite subject is Science. It is a subject that you must think a lot. As well as it is a subject studied by students all over the world. Due to Science, people find many things. I do Science at my school too.
I like it because it is a subject with more practical work. We do lots of experiments, projects and activities. At school we were given a chance to handle tools by ourselves. My science teacher is very nice and friendly. She makes it a lot of fun doing lessons.
In our school library there are lots of books about science and experiments. I like reading those books. For science I obtained the highest marks. Then my teacher presented me with a science book. I was very happy.
One day I like to learn science and become a scientist. I feel science is the best subject.

 My favourite hobby

My favourite hobby is planting. I like it because I like to watch the plants grow.
I have grown lots of plants already. Some of them are paddy, cocoa, lemon, pepper, spinach and lemongrass. I don’t just grow food plants but I also grow flowers. When I pick their harvest I feel very happy.
Even my mother likes gardening. Now there are lots of plants and trees in my garden.

An unforgettable trip
Last month I went on a trip
to Kandy with my friends.
We went to Kandy by train. We went to the Peradeniya Botanical Garden and the Temple of the Tooth. We got a chance to worship the Tooth Relic. It was very beautiful. We played happily. We had lunch in a hotel. The food was very tasty. We returned home by train. It was an unforgettable day in my life.

Our wonderful trip
Last Friday we had our annual trip. I got up very early in the morning. That day I got ready to come to school at 3 o’clock. At 4.45 I was in the school. That day we got into the bus at
5 o’clock.
After that we reached Guruge Nature Park. After going to Guruge Nature Park we walked inside the park. Birds like emu, ostrich, ducks, parrots, swans, white peacock and animals like iguana, porcupine, deer, rabbits were there.
After that we went to the Planetarium.
And they explained about the Solar System.
We stayed there for 1 ½ hours. We came out of the Planetarium. When we came back to school it was 8.45 p. m.

An interesting train journey
Train journeys are super fun especially when travelling with friends.
One of my most memorable journeys by train was my journey from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. It was a school trip and we were all excited. We had numerous plans for the trip and were looking forward to having a great time on our way.
We reached the railway station by 6 a. m., the train started within a few minutes. I occupied the window seat to see the view outside. The view of the green fields, muddy roads and huts on the way was delightful.
My best friend sat next to me and we chatted as we looked outside.
Soon it was time for breakfast.
I loved the food served on the train. We also had hot tomato soup. After breakfast we decided to play UNO. Playing UNO cards in large groups is always fun.
We played UNO for the rest of the journey and before we even knew it we had reached our destination. It was a great experience. The company of my friends made the train journey all the more gleeful.
