Hotel owner to appear in court after man nearly swallows nail in lunch packet
View(s):A hotel owner has been taken to court by the Kotte Municipal Council after a customer almost swallowed an iron nail in a lunch parcel. The man had partially swallowed the nail mistaking it to be a chicken piece, but fortunately with the help of family members he had been able to remove the nail from throat.
He had taken the nail and the lunch packet to the Public Health Inspector’s office of the Kotte MC where he lodged a complaint. Acting on the complaint the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Rodrigo ordered that the hotel be searched and a corresponding knife from which the nail had fallen off was found.
The nail and the knife would be produced in court as evidence. The hotel owner has been ordered to appear in the Gangodawila Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
