The last day of school

It was the last day of my class in school. We decorated the class. When our teacher came in, we surprised her. We bought cards for our teacher. We brought food. Then we started the class party. First we gave food to our teacher. Then we ate. When we finished eating the food, teacher gave ou reports and told about our Grade Four class.
At last we said goodbye to our teacher with a heavy heart. We were in the same class for three long years. I miss my friends and dear Sujeewa teacher.

My calendar
My calendar tells me what day it is. Shall I give you an example? If it is the 13th, look on top of the calendar. It says M, T, W, T, F, S, S. That means Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It also tells what month it is.
The calendar is the greatest thing you can have.

My hobbies
I have got many hobbies which I love to do in my free time – Reading, drawing, painting and gardening are some of my hobbies. I use crayons, colour pencils or watercolours to draw pictures. I mostly draw pictures of nature, animals, birds and the seaside with the sunset. On birthdays
of my parents, brother and my friends, I gift my best drawings to them. Sometimes I colour pictures from the iPad apps too.

Sometimes I like to experiment with the reuse or recycling of many different materials like old shoeboxes, plastic bags or cups, wedding or party invitations to create things which I can use for myself. For example, I used some wedding cake boxes and covers to create my own storage box which I have kept on my table to store small clips, rubber-bands, cutters, erasers etc.

I also like reading a lot and enjoy it very much. My parents and grandparents buy me books and family members too gift me books. Now I have a small library in my room. There are lots of books by Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, J. K. Rowling, Dr. Seuss, Beatrix Potter, the Quran and Prophet Stories etc., and a collection of great fairytales which my grandma gifted me when I won the school oratory competition last year. Reading enables me to learn so many things.
I have a nice garden which with the help of my grandmother I have planted flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and of course my favourite mango tree which gives shade to the whole garden and also attracts many birds which is a beautiful sight in the morning. I love all my hobbies very much.

My pets
My pets are Rish, Smitty, Sudu and Blacky. They are all dogs. Rish is a dachshund dog. Smitty is also a dachshund. It is one year old. It is a very cute dog. Sudu and Blacky are normal dogs. Sudu is seven years old. Blacky is four years old.
I play with my Rish and Smitty every evening. When I say “Smitty” it wags its tail. When I say “Rish” it is also wagging its tail.
I love my dogs every day.

My school fair
We had a fair at our school. We had about 25 stalls and games too; such as fruit juice stalls, Mehendi stalls, dessert stalls, toy stalls, clothes stalls and a popsicle stick man at the gate.
I played in the bouncing castle. We had great fun shopping the whole day, running around. I went to the Game Zone and played games such as train riding, the big merry-go-round and
12 little candles. I won a prize in 12 little candles. I was happy that day. It was an unforgettable day in the year 2018.

Save water for a better world
Water is very important for both human beings and animals. We use water for bathing, drinking and washing. And also we use water for transportation. Water is essential for the existence of trees. Water is evidence of the water cycle.

Today we are facing a water scarcity problem in Sri Lanka and other countries. Because fresh water is only three percent of the earth’s water amount.
There are many reasons for this problem. The main reason is industrialization and urbanization. People put waste material into streams, lakes and ponds. We add harmful chemicals into waterways.
Actually this is a big issue for both people and animals.

As students we have a responsibility to save water.
We can use water very carefully. Otherwise the new generation will face many problems in the future. ‘Save water. Save life. Save the world.’

I am the Sun
I go to work early in the morning.
On the way, I can see birds flying, farmers going to their paddyfields and children going to school.
I help plants to grow and I help people
to dry their clothes and produce electricity. I help animals too.

The moon, clouds and stars are my friends. The sky is like my mother. I’m so hot like lava, fire and acid. My climate is hotter than you can ever imagine.
When I’m angry I can burn you easily.
I help my friend the Moon to give light to you at night. When it is raining, I hide behind a cloud and come out smiling after the rain. Without me there will be no life on Earth.
Then, now and forever, at your service, I’m the Sun.
