Multi talented Manjula now on CRI
View(s):Popular lyricist and dubbing artiste Manjula Malkanthi is a multi talented figure in the field of music and entertainment. Her latest collection of songs with popular singers in the field, is now ready to hit the air.
Three of Manjula’s new songs – ‘Oba ma nuwan’, ‘Oba langin Innawanam’ and ‘Punchi panchi kale mang’- have already released on ‘you tube’. Popular singer Theekshana Anuradha rendered his voice to ‘Oba ma nuwan’ and ‘Oba langin Innawanam’ songs along with Manjual.
The other songs in the collection- ‘Oba dannawada’ with Theekshan, ‘Sanda heena pena vita dura’ and ‘Saththamai Aadarei’ with veteran musician Rohan Bogoda have already released to the SLBC and to other radio stations.
All these songs were penned by Manjla herself and the music for her songs was provided by veteran musicians Rohana Bogoda, Sunil Dharmasena and Bhadri Mahendra Jayathilake.
Manjuala has written well over fifty songs for various singers on different labels including Priya Suriyasena, Sujatha Attanayake, Rupa Indumathi, Uresha Ravihari, Rohana Bogoda, Seetha Nanayakkara and Sathya N. Edward.
Apart from singing and song writing, she is a well known dubbing artiste. Most of her television programmes were catered to children. ‘Siththara Puncha’, ‘Battige Gedara’, Andare’ and ‘Lokke Mama’ were well taken Children’s programmes telecast on Rupavahini, ITN and on radio as well.
Manjula is an experienced screenplay writer for teledramas and she has acted in several single episode Christmas and Avurudu teledramas.
‘Now my ambition is to release my maiden album comprising all my popular songs’ she said.
Currently she is the main producer for ‘Hedakara Hendawa’ radio programme on Sinhala Services of the CRI –Chinese Radio International.
