Dhammissara Central, Anamaduwa Central win Under-19 Championships

Dhammissara Central College, Naththandiya comfortably beat Rajasingha Central College, Ruwanwalla by 3-0 to clinch the Boy’s Under-19 DSI Supersports Schools Volleyball Championship at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium in Maharagama last Saturday.

The winners grabbed the first set by 25-22 and continued the following two setters in the same pace to record identical scores. St. Xavier’s College, Marawila won the overall third place.

In the Girls’ final, Anamaduwa Central recorded a smashing 3-0 win against Rathanapala Maha Vidyalaya, Mahauswewa to clinch the title. The winners claimed the first set by 26-24 after a hard fight, but the following two sets were cakewalks for them. They made a clean sweep with set wins of 25-18 and 25-20. Galigamuwa Central College were placed overall third in this category.

Vidura Prabath of Rajasinghe Central was adjudged the best player in the boys’ segment while Preethika Pramodani of Ratanapala Vidyalaya adjudged best player in the girls’ tournament. Rajasingha Central College, Ruwanwella, who emerged runners-up in the Boy’s Under-19 category, claimed the Boy’s Under-17 championship beating St. Xavier’s College, Marawila 3-0. The set scores were 25-21, 25-21 and 35-33. Davisamara Maha Vidyalaya, Seeduwa were placed overall third. Rajasinghe Central’s Kavishka Madushanka was adjudged the Best Player.

The Girls’ Under-17 championship was won by Vijayaba National School, Hungama, who went on to beat Anamaduwa Central College. Uhana Thissapura Vidyalaya Ampara were placed overall third.

Imbulana Sri Sena Maha Vidyalaya clinched the Boy’s Under-13 title after beating Royal College, Ruwanwella 2-0. The set scores were 21-8 and 21-16. Iduranga Ratnayake of Imbulana Sri Sena MV won the award for the Best Player.
