Sri Lanka Police is teaming up with University authorities to address serious issues concerning undergraduates, including ragging within universities.

An extensive discussion on activities that affect student welfare and academic work was held between Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara and University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Mohan de Silva, on Feb.28. Senior police officials and Vice Chancellors of Universities participated in the meeting.

Police said Universities will be given assistance to curb ragging within campus premises, and will increase surveillance surrounding University premises, as there have been reports of trafficking in narcotics.
