Now dumped national Vice Captain Lahiru Thirimanne cracked an unbeaten 166 inclusive of 13 boundaries and two sixes as he along with Sameera de Zoysa and Shehan Fernando helped Ragama CC make a recovery on day two against CCC in the Premier League Tier ‘A’ inter-club cricket encounter played at the CCC ground.

Thirimanne shared a valuable 94 runs stand with Sameera and then followed it up with another 103 runs partnership with Shehan who hit 79.

The two partnerships paved the way for Ragama CC to get past their opponents’ score of 273 as they made 345.

Dilshan de Soysa who made an unbeaten 97 and Janaka Sampath a 79 featured in a valuable 135 runs stand for the eighth wicket enabling Army SC to continue their domination against fancied NCC in the match played at Panagoda.

Army SC in reply to NCC’s score of 224; resuming from their overnight score of 92 for 0 went on to post a formidable score of 369 runs.

SLPA CC has already taken a first innings lead over Tamil Union in the match played at P. Sara Stadium. SLPA CC continuing from their overnight score of 169 for 6 went on to make a modest score of 233 in reply to Tamil Union’s 120.

BRC’s left arm spinner Chamikara Edirisinghe bagged 5 for 18 and experienced off spinner Suraj Randiv had 2 for 35 to lead their fightback against Badureliya CC at the Havelock Park.

Batting first BRC crashed 128 all out, but, thanks to the bowling of  Chamikara and Randiv, they still have a glimmer of hope of  bagging first innings points as the latter too were struggling on 123 for 9 at close.
