‘Nethuwa Beri Minihek’- ‘A Man Much Needed’, the winner of seven awards including the Best Drama at the State Drama Festival produced by playwright Rajitha Dissanayake will be staged at 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm on October 6 at Tower Hall Colombo 10.

The play revolves around the family of Jayantha, a Sinhala nationalist businessman who enjoyed close ties with the previous regime, and worries for his future in the transformed political climate. Jayantha’s son returns from London with a Tamil friend who is in search of his mother who went missing during the war. Meanwhile, Jayantha’s daughter is trying to make contact with her estranged mother, who left when she and her brother were toddlers. The play depicts the ultimate fate of these individuals, who embark on a quest for lost power and love.

Famed for his earlier award winning directions -‘Weeraya Merila’, ‘Sihina Horu Aran’, ‘Apahu Herenna Be’, ‘Bakamoona Veedi Basi’ and ‘Adara Wasthuwa’, in his new play Rajitha touches the theme of nationalism and ethnic issues.

The cast of comprises Dharmapriya Dias, Shyam Fernando, Nadeeshani Peliarachchi, Bimsara Premaratne, Pasan Ranaweera, Anuradha Mallawarachchi, Nalin Lusena, CharindraChandrasena and KasunChathuranga.

The music is designed by Kapila Poogalarachchiand, make-up by Priyantha Dissanayake, lighting by Ranga Samarakoon and costume design is by Nalin Lusena and Samadara Mabuluge. VijithNuwan and Nalin Lusenawill be the stage managers.
