A special performance of ‘Kelani Palama’, one of the longest running theatrical productions in Sri Lanka will go on the boards at 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm on September 16 at New Town Hall auditorium, Colombo 7.

With a host of new actors and actresses, the cast comprises of Ramya Wanigasekara, Palitha Perera, Prasannajith Abeysuriya, Geetha Kanthi Jayakodi, Sanjeewa Upendra, Madini Malwatte, Prasads Suriyarachchi, Dimuthi Chinthaka and Niluka Rekani. Wasantha Vittachchi handles make up.

First staged in 1978, the drama is a social criticism of political manipulation and the ever widening gap between the poor and the rich. It tells the story of a group of shanty dwellers under the Kelani Bridge who run to the bridge when the river is overflowing causing floods.
