The Sri Lanka Army’s annual flagship project, ‘Colombo Defence Seminar 2017’ will be held on August 28-29 at the BMICH. The theme this year is ‘Countering Violent Extremism: Global Trends’. The two-day conference is expected to be attended by many eminent scholars of national and international fame. It is designed to exchange ideas on a gamut of issues ranging from significance of security in devising collective strategies, to possible formulae for a stable regional and international security environment.

This year’s seminar, the seventh in succession, is segmented on the directions of the Commander of the Army and will be addressed by more than 27 guest speakers on several major themes in the context of extremism and threats of a different nature.
