Aabid about to jump final hurdle
It is evident that the winners are already in the making. They are none other than Aabid Cader and his team S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia. With just one week before the conclusion of the Singer-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year and Most Popular Rugby Team of Year 2017 competitions Cader and S. Thomas; have stamped their authority with a thumping margin, that could be doubtful to cover within just a week.
Cader obtained 4376 votes during the ended week, more than what former leader Avishka Lee of Wesley College had gathered in total, to take his tally to 13084. He leads Lee by 9053 votes, to quite comfortably breast the tape. The deficit leaves Lee no room to retaliate unless a miracle occurs.
Lee’s tally stands at 4031 with the inclusion of 316 votes this week, as he stands in at second place, with Ananda College’s Sasindu Rathnaweera remains at third with a tally of 1938 votes. Others in the list have less chance to perform a marvel.
In the team competition, S. Thomas’ streams ahead to lead Wesley by a thumping margin of 9073. S. Thomas’ takes their tally to 13101 as Wesley remains at second with 4028 votes. Ananda remains at third place, ahead of Isipathana and Royal.
The competitions, which enables readers to vote for their most preferred school Rugby player of the ongoing Singer Schools Division I Rugby League Championship 2017, will end on July 30.
Coupons will be accepted until 12.00noon on Thursday, August 3, during the final week of the competitions. Names of players shown in the list are those with 30 and above votes.
