Ed Sheeran comes to rescue of fans over ticket touts

Ed Sheeran has come to the rescue of his fans by pressing brakes on ticket touts to his UK concerts next year. Tickets at face value sold on his official site were priced between £49 and £88. But touts who snapped the tickets were reselling them on other sites from £125, £400 and even £125,000 for a pair. He stepped in to cancel 10,000 tickets. Reports on 17th July say nearly 90% of the tickets were returned to be resold at the correct face value.

Ariana Grande has said she is moved and honoured after the Manchester City Council voted to make her the city’s first honorary citizen 12th July. The council voted unanimously in the move after she returned to play a charity concert following the bombing incident in May.

The French armed forces put some pop into the otherwise stiff Bastille Day parade when deviated from marching music into a medley of Daft Punk songs in front of young President Emmanuel Macron and visiting US President Donald Trump last week. The 39 year old was seen smiling and was observed to be moving to the rhythm of the songs in his seat as were the French military hierarchy and invitees, but President Trump seemed unmoved.

Kid Rock has given a strong indication he will run for the US Senate in 2018 from the US State of Michigan. The 46 year old, whose real name is Robert Ritchie will take on incumbent Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow, 67 who has been a member since 2000. He says he wants to be a voice for the taxpaying hardworking Americans. Kid Rock is famous for the solitary global hit ‘All Summer Long’ in 2008.

An agreement between Universal Music Group and the Estate of the late singer Prince has been declared void. Carver County District judge Kevin Eide asked the estate of Prince to proceed in a cautious manner and preserve the assets of the estate. The deal signed in February was said to be worth $31 million covering licensing rights to the back catalogue, the library and unreleased albums under NPG records.

The Warner Group challenged the agreement saying Prince had always released his albums through them and added he had signed a deal with Warner in 2014. Executives at the Estate tried to cancel the deal with Universal which led to the court action.

The Mexican duo Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee with Canadian singer Justin Bieber continue to dominate the UK singles chart with ‘Despacito’ which has now clocked nine non consecutive weeks at the top of the chart. The track pulled off 6.7 million streams and 28,000 downloads in the process

Sigala & Ella Eyre charged on to the UK top 10 singles chart with ‘Came Here For Love’ which climbed from 12 to No: 6 this week. The tropical house track is the fifth top 10 for British DJ and producer Sigala or Bruce Fielder. For Ella Eyre also a singer and song writer ‘Came Here For Love’ is the first lead track to give her a UK top 10. Previously her success has been as a featured artist.
