Danceworld invited to perform at Int’l Festival for Young Dancers
Sureka Buell, Director of Danceworld School of Modern, Jazz & Ballet attended the Dance Teacher Summit in USA last year hoping to feel re-energized and inspired. She flew home to Sri Lanka with much more. The global event with a world-renowned faculty was a gathering of dance professionals, teachers, and those in the business and also saw Sureka and her young students being given a tremendous opportunity.
On Saturday, Sureka, her energetic group of 23 8-18 year-old dancers along with a few “mothers and others” flew to Los Angeles, California for the 26th Annual Dance Excellence – International Festival for Young Dancers 2017. They will showcase their talent along with 27 other countries and over 15,000 other dancers at the festival.
The festival is an event showcasing global talent along with classes, workshops and performances at artistic sites in the USA. The invitation-only festival is a first for Sureka who was introduced to the Founder of Dance Excellence USA, who extended an invitation for the festival.
The enthusiastic group of Danceworld has been perfecting their moves since last October. They have also been invited to showcase one key performance at Disneyland – Los Angeles and enter for five entries to be presented for the International Performance Board in three age categories. For their much anticipated performance at Disneyland the girls will perform a fusion of modern dance coupled with Kandyan dance steps along with performances in Contemporary, Modern, Hip- hop and an Open Variety Category (musical theatre style).
