Sri Lanka Women skipper and left arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera along with Chamari Atapattu and Chamari Polgampola helped Sri Lanka record an easy eight wicket win over Zimbabwe in a Group A match of the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament played at the NCC ground.

Inoka ended with impressive figures of 4 for 18. Support came from two Chamaries as pair who together shared four wickets between to bowl out Zimbabwe for 149.

Sri Lanka Women in their run chase was given a sound start by openers Chamari Atapattu who made 58 and Nipun Hansika. They added 77 runs in just 15 overs. Later an unbroken partnership of 57 runs for the third wicket between Prasadani Weerakkody and Chamari Polgampola helped them reach the target in the 37th over to record their second win of the tournament having earlier secured a win against Ireland.

The South Africa Women, the only other unbeaten team along with India who has so far won all their matches recorded their third successive win. They defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in a Group B encounter at the P. Sara Stadium.

Bangladesh taking first lease of the wicket was bundled out for a low score of 100.
