Will the ubiquitous Murunga (drumstick) take Sri Lankan farmers out of poverty with a drought staring in their face?  Hayleys Agriculture, under a new project in the northern province, claims Murunga is a miracle tree with the leaves and pods classed as ‘super-food’, globally and containing the protein of plain yogurt, four times the calcium of milk, 25 times the iron of spinach, four times the vitamin A of carrots, and seven times the vitamin C of oranges. Picture shows a farmer with his murunga trees.
