Two leading schools from Colombo, who play their traditional matches in the name of ‘saints’, are in a bit of turmoil these days.  Their traditional rugby match was postponed many times by this school by the Lake for various reasons. Pile up of fixtures was the main cause but a free-for-all with a Kandy school at the end of the season took a toll on the boys, parents and the school itself. The traditional rugby match for this year never took place.

As a payback, the school by the Galle Road is not giving a date for their traditional soccer match and the boys and parents of both schools are wondering what will happen next.
Both schools are headed by respected religious people and if their stance is such, the values of both schools should be seriously revisited.  Over to you, Your Eminence!

PLAYING FOOTBALL
There is this cricket coach who is in the habit of playing football with the ladies that he is coaching. There are various allegations that this coach is not doing his job. Other than that he trains these ladies in the art of taking catches.

‘UNCLE’
A lady official at a very popular sport has the habit of calling her compatriots ‘Uncle’. Some officials of the sport do not like to be called ‘Uncle’. She was brought into the office of this sport due to the influence that her husband yields. This habit of calling officials as ‘Uncle’ is a manner in which she wants to win their confidence.

PLAYING WITH CHEAP RACQUETS
A high level competition featuring shuttle corks took place in Kurunegala recently. Players claim that the stadium in which the sport was conducted did not have lights and was not properly maintained. Added to that, the children who played in it were given cheap racquets to play the game. But the Boss of the Sport says that he had done a lot to improve the game. In what way we wonder!

THE URINE TEST
A muscleman contest is to be held in Spain next month but the musclemen are shy to attend the urine tests that the sport’s body has arranged. Last year too the musclemen were asked to do this test but they declined and the end result was that they did not go to the event. A competition of this nature took place in Hambantota last year and all participants were disqualified as they failed the urine test.
