The Saints are once again marching towards another entertaining and enjoyable evening of music and songs of yesteryear. Aptly titled “Try to Remember” the show to be held at the Lionel Wendt on Sunday, November 6 at 7 p.m., promises to be another show-stopper, which we have come to expect from the Saints with their very listenable vocals and vibrant harmony. This concert is being held to support the Lions Club of Colombo Somerset, District 306 B2’s charity project, the Sinha Salsevana children’s home.

The Saints rendition of the sacred ‘He Touched Me’ first performed by the Gaither Vocal band in 1963 is a classic with a perfect blending of mature voices that brings out the real meaning of the lyrics of this beautiful hymn. It’s not only the sacred or devotional songs that the Saints will be performing but an entire new repertoire of songs which include many popular hits of yesteryear, together with a segment that includes Sinhala favourites and a rousing sing-along session, with a selection of Elvis Presley bestsellers.

Be pleasantly surprised by the cool blowing of ex-Spitfire Nalake Fernando, making a comeback on trumpet, as the Saints perform a splendid version of Andre Bocelli’s ‘More’, whilst two of their more accomplished musicians Russell Gomesz and Suren Abeysekera would showcase their talents with a captivating version of Josh Groban’s hit ‘Try to Remember’. Also on the cards is an excellent version of ‘Halleluiah’ performed by the quartet of Russell, Priyanke, Carlo and Beverly that displays the talent in their ranks. This time too, the Saints have been trained by stalwarts Suren Abeysekera and Priyanke Perera.

The Saints will be accompanied by Dayadhree Silva Jayasuriya on piano, Revel Crake on lead guitar with Marlon Perera on acoustic guitar, Basil Paiva on bass and of course Christo Prins on drums and percussion.
The Saints have always come up with something new and engaging at each of their concerts and this year too will be no exception. Tickets priced at Rs. 3,000, 2,000, 1000 and balcony Rs.500 are available at the Lionel Wendt. All proceeds will go to the Sinha Salsevana children’s home, managed by the Lions Club of Colombo Somerset, District 306 B2.
