Total Amber’s Hashan hogs limelight

Two opening batsmen, Buddhika Mallawarachchi from Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and Ishan Jayawardena from Mihin Lanka with bowler, Hashan Perera from Total Amber hogged the limelight in the sixth MCA-Stafford-Honda Division ‘G’ 25-over League Tournament 2016,continued last weekend.  Buddhika Mallawarachchi hit a hurricane 155 in 78 balls inclusive of 10 sixes and 18 fours while putting on 135 runs for the 4th wicket in 63 balls with Asantha Perera (35). MBSL went to pile 254/5 and got Group M – Media bowled out for 107 runs.
Jayawardena carried his bat out after scoring a gritty 121 not out in 67 balls, inclusive of 7 sixes and 14 fours, as Mihin Lanka beat Cargills Bank by 5 wickets.

The babies of MCA cricket, Roche Products got yet another thrashing when Hashan Perera (6/21) skittle them out like nine-pins – all out for 59 runs in 16 overs. The match only lasted for 22 overs as Total Amber finished the game in six overs.  Other noteworthy performances came from Lahiru Subasinghe from PABC Bank ‘B’ (95 runs and 4/14 vs Holcim Lanka), Sajaad Athiq from WNS Global (5/21 vs Palliyaguruge Group), A. Samantha from Elastomeric (5/27 vs Maliban) and the two century stands by Laugfs Holdings pair Madushan Navaratne (67) and Rasika Raj (77) (130 for third wicket vs Pearson Lanka) and the other by Deutsche Bank’s opening pair, Pasan Jayasinghe (51) and Rally Tissera (59) — 120 vs Ship Xpress).  The tournament will continue next weekend with the final batch of 20 matches. The tournament takes a breather, this weekend for the MCA ‘Sixes’. – LR
