Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama recorded their third successive win of the Under 17 Division One cricket tournament when they defeated St Thomas’ Matara by four wickets in the match played at Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara. The match which got off to a late start and was curtailed to 40 overs with St Thomas’ taking first lease of the wicket being restricted to a score of 93 and Devapathiraja MMV in their run chase reached the target in the 22nd over.

Richmond overcame traditional rivals Mahinda by two wickets in the first round match played at Mahinda ground in Galle. Mahinda batting first made 187 for 9 and Richmond in their run chase helped by an unbeaten 92 by Taveesha Abishek reached the target with five balls to spare.
Wesley defeated Royal Colombo by six wickets in the Under 17 Division One cricket encounter played at Campbell Park yesterday. Wesley after restricting Royal to a score of 128 reached the target in the 39th over.

Half tons by Vasanthan Jathusan and N. Sowmiyan supported by a four wicket haul by K. Kapilraj enabled St John’s Jaffna record an easy 73 runs win over Maliyadeva in the match played at Jaffna. Sri Rahula beat Sri Sumangala by five wickets in the match played at Galagedera. Sri Rahula having restricted Sri Sumangala for a score of 136 reached the target in the 37th over. St John’s Panadura helped by half tons from Rukshan Dissanayake and Praveen Sandamal coasted to a massive 183 runs win over Holy Cross Kalutara in the match played at Panadura.

St John’s batting first after made a formidable score of 258 for 9 and then bundled out the visitors for a meager 75. St Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa overcame Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha by four wickets in the match played at the Prison ground in Dalupotha. Thurstan defeated Nalanda by 46 runs in the Under 17 Division Two match played at Thurstan ground yesterday. Thurstan batting first made a modest score of 175 and Nalanda in their turn was able to muster a score of only 129.
