Beyonce has been the target of a protest by the police at her homecoming concert in Houston, Texas on 7th May. Members of the Pasadena Police Department and the Coalition for Police Sheriffs staged a silent protest outside the NRG Stadium, where Beyonce was performing as part of her Formation World tour. It was in response to her performance of ‘Formation’ during the Super Bowl in February, which the police claim was “anti police”. At the time police groups had vowed they would stage protests against the pop star. The 34 year old has just released her sixth album ‘Lemonade’.

Drake is top of the pops in the UK as he has topped both the singles and albums chart simultaneously. The 29 rapper, singer and songwriter has notched up a fourth week at helm of the singles chart with ‘One Dance’ while his album ‘Views’ has just topped the albums chart. ‘One Dance’ has combined sales of 141,000 copies in the week leading up to current week’s reign. Also the song has broken its own record set last week by passing 8.95 million streams. Drake is co- credited for writing ‘One Dance’ under his real name Aubrey Graham along with Paul Jeffries, Noah Shebib, Ayodeji Balogan (Wizkid), Kyla Smith and Errol Reid. The song is produced by Paul Jeffries under his professional name Nineteen 85, Noah Shebib under the name 40 and Wizkid. Supping vocalists on ‘One Dance’ are Wizkid and Kyla Smith.

Galantis the Swedish pop duo has scored their third UK top 10 hit with ‘No Money’ as the song moved up the chart from 12 to No: 8. The nu disco/ electro house song is tipped to be the first single from the group’s upcoming third album. Then previous two top ten hits for Galantis are ‘Runaway (U & I)’ and ’Peanut Butter Jelly’. Galantis are Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow aka Style of Eye. The group has been around since 2012.

Last Christmas the NHS Choir from Lewisham and Greenwich defied gravity literally to top the UK singles chart with their charity song ‘A Bridge Over You’ during the very important Christmas week. Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ gave way for one week to take the chart honours. The medical group comprising 32 has now two other matters to celebrate. First they have signed a recoding deal with Decca records to release an album which is called ‘Something Inside So Strong’ due to be released on 3rd June. Secondly they have also signed up a deal with the Hollywood film producer Julia Verdin who will chart their incredible story covering all members of the choir right up to their big time No: 1 song.

On the music scene interesting and unimaginable collaborations do take place. It has been disclosed that the pop duo Sigma has recorded a song with the 90’s boy band Take That. The recording was made last week. Take That will completing 25 years as a group this year. They are said to be making an album and planning a tour with Robbie Williams. Sigma have had three huge hit songs ‘Nobody To Love’, ’Glitterball’ and ‘Coming Home’ featuring Rita Ora.
