Dharmaraja College beat Kingswood College 24-17 in an absorbing Singer Schools Under-20 Division I ‘A’ Rugby League Tournament match played at Bogambara yesterday. At halftime Kingswood led by 12-10 but the Rajans bounced back to snatch a deserving victory.

Ulupana and Tharindu Wijesinghe scored for the Rajans while Lakshitha Ranaweera and Madushan Nuwan did likewise for Kingswood. Chamika Perera and Ramesh Ananda went over in the second half for the winners as Gihan Isuru converted both tries. Senesh Kaushika touched down for the losers. Priya Suranjan refereed.

After their mediocre performance in the opening week’s fixture last week, Trinity College made amendments to record a convincing 40-14 win against St. Joseph’s College in another match played at Pallekele yesterday. Winger Geesath Panditharatne (2), Rishen Madena, Anuka Boyagoda, Shalinda Alahakoon and Sanushka Abeywickrema went over for the victors.

Lashan Wijesuriya converted two tries, one from a point close to the touchline, while Thushila Perera and Sanushka Abeywickrema were responsible for the other conversions. Trinity scored from six tries and five conversions while the Josephians scored from two converted tries.
