President to nominate new AG next week

President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to forward the name of his nominee as the country’s next Attorney General, to the Constitutional Council (CC) in the coming week.

CC member MP Vijitha Herath said they expect the President to submit a name within the next few days. The AG’s position has been vacant since January 10 following the retirement of former AG Yuvanjana Wijayatilake P.C.
