Royal in fact ended in a strong position at the end of the first day’s play having bowled out the Josephians for a low score of 131 and ending the day in a strong position of 226 for 8.The second day’s play saw Royal who had a lead of 95 runs declaring their innings on their overnight score. St Joseph’s batting the second time underwent fluctuated fortunes and even then they managed to erase the deficit, they found their spin attack too hot to handle.

St. Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa was home for lunch when they crushed Dharmapala Pannipitiya by an innings and 29 runs in the encounter concluded at Wennappuwa. The second day’s proceedings saw St. Joseph Vaz being bowled out on their overnight score of 162 for 9 in reply to Dharmapala’s 101. Dharmapala batting the second time having just 61 runs to erase put in a miserable batting performance. The Vazians bowling trio Thulanjana Fernando who ended with impressive figures of 5 for 2, Praveen Dilanka and Roshen Fernando who both shared the other five wickets ran through the Dharmapala batting to skittle them out for a meager 32 runs in an innings that lasted only 20.2 overs.

St. Benedict’s cruised through to a ten wicket over De Mazenod in the match concluded at Kandana. Geethal Fernando and Madushan Kularatne who both took six wickets were the heroes for the Benedictines after Vittonio Roberto chipped in with a half ton.

Left arm spinner Kavindu Bandara match bag of eight wickets helped Nalanda coast to a comfortable innings and 44 runs win over Rahula Matara in the match concluded at Campbell Place.The foundation for the win was laid by Malinga Amarasinghe and Nimnaka Ratnayake who both cracked half tons on day one for Nalanda to make a formidable score of 269 for 7 declared.
S. Thomas’ dominated proceedings against Ananda in the match concluded at Mt Lavinia. However they had to be satisfied with a first innings after making 248 and bowling out Ananda for 142 runs.

DSS took a wafer thin first inning lead over Prince of Wales in the match played at DSS ground in Wijerama. DSS made 168 and then restricted Prince of Wales resuming from their overnight score of 87 for 2 to a score of 167.
St. Servatius were 87 for 4 in reply to Dharmasoka MV’s score of 177 at the end of the first day’s play in the match played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara. The match will be continued today.

A 113 run partnership for the second wicket between Himalaka Iduranga (53) and Risith Upamal (51) and a 91 run partnership for the sixth wicket between Thiwanka Kekulawala (42) and skipper Tharindu Madhusanka (34) helped Sri Dharmaloka College to declare their first innings at 282/9 in their under 19 division II group ‘A’ encounter against Vidyartha College Kandy which commenced at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium at Sooriyawewa yesterday.
