Justin Bieber has replaced himself at the top of the UK singles chart. Bieber’s new song the ballad ‘Love Yourself’ took over the No:1 position after deposing his previous single ‘Sorry’ from the prime position.

‘Love Yourself’ first debuted on the UK singles chart three weeks ago at No: 3 while ‘Sorry’ had just reached the No: 1 position. Last week the song moved one notch to No: 2 and this writer asked the question if ‘Love Yourself’ will topple ‘Sorry’. We now have the answer.

The Canadian has achieved three No: 1 on the UK singles chart this year, all from Bieber’s album ‘Purpose’. ‘Love Yourself’ is penned by Bieber along with Ed Sheeran and Benjamin Levin with Benny Blanco being the producer.

Meanwhile the last artist who replaced himself at the No:1 spot on the UK singles chart was Elvis Presley in January 2005, when the reissues of ‘One Night/I Got Stung’ replaced ‘Jailhouse Rock’. But Elvis was dead 28 years at the time.

The last living act replace one song with another were the Beatles ‘She Loves You’ with ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ in December 1963.

‘You Don’t Own Me’ by Grace featuring G-Eazy, an old song with a new dressing making waves entered the UK top 10 singles chart with climb from 44 to No: 5. The performer is 18 year old Australian singer Grace Sewell who goes by her forename.

Whilst the song stays close to the original Leslie Gore version of 1963, the track has the update feel with rapper G-Eazy being added.

The song came out in Australia earlier this year but has caught on in the UK because it is being used as the Christmas TV advert for House of Frazer and further with X-Factor participant singing the song on 28th November.

The original did not chart in the UK. The legendry Quincy Jones produced the original in 1963 and the new rendition by Grace along with Leslie Gore and Parker Ighile.

Kylie Minogue has reunited with her old production team Stock Aitken Waterman to remix her song ‘Every Day’s Like Christmas’. The SAW team helped Kylie become a global star through their Eurobeat production beat in the late 80’s and early 90s. ‘Every Day’s Like Christmas’ is written by Chris Martin and the original version appears on her ‘Kylie Christmas’ album.

RnB singer Usher has confirmed he has married again. The ‘OMG’ hitmaker made the announcement on the Ellen De Generes show as he said the marriage was held in secret in Cuba on September 15. Usher married his manager Grace Miguel. Usher also announced a new album for 2016.

Sia performed her new song ‘Alive’ a big ballad on the X-Factor show on December 6. An equally good club remix of the song has emerged by DJ Cahill.

Sia co-wrote ‘Alive’ with Adele for her album ‘25’, but it was not included. Sia has put it on her own album along with other song she wrote for artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Katy Perry has made a video clip playing the role of a weather girl for UNICEF. In the clip she also appeals to world leaders to take action to save the world’s youth from the effects of climate change.
