Senior journalist Dayaseeli Liyanage in her debut novelette “Urumayen lada karumaya”- (Karma bestowed by Destiny) has written on a subject that one too many Sri Lankans are familiar with. It’s the story told by the mother of a son whose childhood misdemeanours are lightly dismissed and wrongdoings go unpunished. As a result of the lax attitude of his elders, the young man becomes an alcoholic and meets a tragic end.

The book is published by Nanila Publications (Pvt) Ltd of Nawala Road, Nugegoda. Dayaseeli’s book priced at Rs. 200 will be available for sale at their book stall at the upcoming Colombo International Book Fair next week.
