‘Sing along with Golden Chimes’, a concert to celebrate its 45 years of music was a great success with house full audience held on August 23 at Ramadiya Ranmal Holiday Resort in Moratuwa.

This was organised to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of Chanaka and 45th Anniversary of ‘Lankika & the Golden Chimes’ in the field of music.

Concert commenced with their popular song titled ‘Mage Pelpathe’ sung by Chanaka and the lead guitar was played by Dixon Gunaratne (pioneer lead guitarist of Golden Chimes) who has come all the way from Switzerland. Concert ended by singing a Medley of English songs and a medley of Bailas of Moonstones and Golden Chimes starting with ‘mango nanda’ ending with popular song ‘Moratuwa Moratuwa’.

A special song titled ‘Clarence Apen samu gaththath oba’ composed by Chanaka was sung by Lankika at the concert as a tribute to legend Clarence Wijewardene.

Dr. Vijaya Corea was the Compere for the event and the dancing sequences composed by Sanker and Solar Heat.

Ex Golden Chimes Rukshan Perera and Anil Bharathi too sang at the celebration concert.

A song book comprising 40 songs of Moonstones & Golden Chimes and some popular English songs were given to every participant free of charge.

The new line-up of Golden Chimes comprises Chanaka Perera (bass/leader), Lankika Perera (vocals), Suranga Perera (guitar), Eranga Fenando (congas), Asanji Wickremasinghe (keyboards) and Kamal Gallage (drums).
