The most exciting book I ever read is ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell. The main character in that book is Hiccup. Hiccup has a small hunting dragon called ‘Toothless’, because it doesn’t have teeth. Toothless is a very selfish dragon.
Hiccup battled dragons with his small hunting dragon and saves the village he lives in many a time.

Hiccup is the heir to the Viking tribe and his cousin Snotlout is jealous of Hiccup so Snotlout tries to kill Hiccup but always fails. However, Hiccup forgives Snotlout for everything. Hiccup isn’t the person whom you would think as the heir to the Viking tribe because Hiccup is skinny and he is scared of many things, he doesn’t know how to swim and also he is bad at training Toothless.
Hiccup’s father Stoick wants his son to be like Snotlout and not to be afraid of things. Stoick wants Hiccup to be strong. Even though Hiccup has saved the village many times, the Vikings don’t remember this.

This is a nice book and it is also a bit funny at times. By reading this book you can learn good qualities from Hiccup.

Man and nature
Nature is made by various parts. Flora, fauna, human beings and rivers are some examples of these parts.
Man is taking a special place among all these parts. Man is the only part of nature which has a developed brain. Because they can invent new things, work according to the behaviour qualities etc. Also they can guide Mother Nature. Homes, lanes are the results of man’s brain. Man is a marvellous thing.

During ancient times, man related with nature. Nowadays, man is distant to nature. Sometimes, they cut down trees and build houses, kill animals to eat. These are activities that guide their brain to do wrong. Inventing new things, feeding animals are some human activities that guide their brain towards right.

Nature cannot kill all the bad work of men. Everyone must live to balance our nature. Let’s not harm nature and let’s construct again our broken relationship with nature.

Treasure
I swam and swam and swam,
Deep into the sea.
Wow, what a wonderful world,
Various kinds of fish were swimming everywhere,
Beautiful corals,
But there I saw one thing,
A very important thing
Everything was different from each other,
Nothing looked like similar,
All were different.
From that I understood one thing,
I ‘m also one treasure,
Emerged out of the seabed,
There’s nothing similar to me,
My feelings, my appearance, my knowledge,
Those are not similar, to anything,
Now I feel I was a treasure,
I’m a treasure!
I’m a treasure!

Rivers
There are many rivers in the world. Sri Lanka also has a lot of rivers. The main rivers are Mahaweli river, Kalu river and Walawe river. The longest river in the world is River Nile. It is located in Egypt. The longest river in  Sri Lanka is River Mahaweli. It is located in Kandy. The two sides of a river is called river bank.

Waterfalls make rivers. Water falls down through rocks and it fills with a lot of water in a place. I love waterfalls because when the water falls down, there will be a nice sound and it looks beautiful when it falls down.

Trip to Bopath Ella
One day my family members and I had a discussion to go visit the beautiful waterfall named Bopath Ella which is situated in Kuruwita. So we packed our food, clothes and equipment needed in a large travelling bag and a small suitcase.
The next day as planned, we started
our journey after eating a light breakfast. We travelled in a small van and I fell asleep as it was a long journey. When I awoke we were already at our destination. We went to the hotel and booked a room. As soon as we went to the room, we changed our clothes and ate a hungry meal.

We could see a beautiful waterfall from our hotel. It was like pearls and crystals falling from a huge rock. As the waterfall was near the hotel we could get there soon. With great difficulty we climbed through the rocks and went closer to the waterfall. Its shape was like a ‘Bo’ leaf. All of us enjoyed bathing there. After sometime we went back to the hotel. We bathed the next day too and left on the third day.
I will never forget the marvellous memories of this fascinating trip.

An unusual visitor

It was morning, just as I finished my breakfast, ‘ding dong’, the doorbell rang. When I went and opened the door a lovely fairy was flying outside.
“My name is Lottie the Lollipop Fairy,” she said. She had lovely yellow short hair up to her neck. She wore a beautiful green frock and she had yellow, purple and pink stripes on the bottom of her dress. She wore lovely red shoes and

she had a bag of flutter corn and lollipops. “I just came to meet you,” she said. “Well, come in” I said. She came in and told me all the things that a fairy can do. She told me that they control sweets, sports, days, flowers and many more things in the human world and fairyland.
Lottie and I ate some lollipops and she told me that King Obare and Queen Titania are the rulers of fairyland.
She said that there were lots of pixies and elves in small houses and lots of fairies too. Later she said, “I better go, there is lots of work to be done in Fairyland,” and she left.
It was nice meeting a fairy even though it was for a little while. It would be nice being a fairy but being a human is much better.
