The same fate overtook in the 9th Battle of the Gold’s big match between D.S. Senanayake and Mahanama Colombo which ended in a draw at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday. DSS continuing from their overnight score of 157 for 4 was guided by skipper Harith Maduwantha who was unfortunate to miss out on a ton by three runs.

Harith who was unbeaten on 41 went on to a make a fine knock of 97 that included eight boundaries helping DSS make a score of 275 for 8 declared.
But Mahanama in their turn was able to face only nine overs when heavy rain put a stoppage to play with Mahanama’s score on 37 for 1. Only 31 overs of play were possible for the day on day two.
