Colombo University inaugurates postgrad econ programmes

The Department of Economics, University of Colombo will inaugurate all its postgraduate and extension programmes for 2015 on March 7 at the New Arts Theatre (NAT) of the University, according to the Head of the Department, Professor Ven. W. Wimalaratana.World Bank Country Director Ms. Francoise Clottes will attend the event as the Chief Guest while a special lecture on “Fall of the West and Rise of Asia: Where is Sri Lanka?” will be delivered by Sirimal Abeyratne, Professor of Economics of Colombo University.

Currently, the department offers a PhD degree programme in Economics; three Masters degree programmes in Economics, Financial Economics, and Tourism; two Postgraduate Diplomas in Economic Development and Tourism and Hotel Management; three Diplomas in Business and Financial Economics, Travel and Tourism Economics and Micro Finance. For the academic year 2015, over 450 students have received admission to these postgraduate and extensions programmes.
