Sri Lanka will continue to evolve as a major tourist destination as South Asia is growing rapidly, according to the Regional Director, Best Western International Asia, Rodney Simpson who was in Colombo for the opening of the City Lights Lounge bar of the Best Western hotel located at Baseline Road at the Kirillapone end last week.

Mr. Simpson, based in the Bangkok Head office, is the director who overseas operations of the Best Western hotel chain in South East Asia.
Best Western has 62 hotels in South East Asia and 14 more hotels will be opened in South East Asia, in the coming months, he said. “We have hotel chains in China, India, Middle East, Europe and the USA as well and the largest hotel chain in the world. Ours is an American company and we are looking at markets in Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan.” The City Lights Lounge Bar is located on the 8th floor of the Best Western Hotel overlooking the city skyline that gives a panoramic view when lit up in the night. Best Western with 60 rooms caters to business travelers and tourists. “Best Western has three brands that cater to different clientele,” said Mr. Simpson.

Executive Chairman of Best Western Elyon Colombo, Presantha Jayamaha said Best Western is a brand new three star hotel opened for business and leisure travelers. “We offer a value price than other city hotels in Colombo with modern devices such as Internet facility and a gymnasium down stairs. We encourage corporates to send their clients to Best Western so that they get a true Sri Lankan experience.”
