The designs that graced the ramp last Tuesday at Elixier 2015 gave the audience something to think about. Bold concepts and sassy t-shirt slogans were the result of creativity inspired by prevention of alcohol and tobacco consumption. This evening of fashion for a cause was presented by the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) for the third consecutive year.

Featuring the work of 12 shortlisted finalists from the applications received, the show featured three rounds of competition. What remained in the audiences’ minds long after the show however, was the striking ‘Conceptual Wear’ segment. From vividly portraying the crippling effects of hallucination- inducing substances to the facetious world of alcohol and tobacco consumption, it spelt edgy fashion that left a lasting impression.
For his rather sombre yet intriguing design, Mirzaan Abbaz’s Goth inspired collection won first place. Presenting the glamorous lifestyle sold along with tobacco and alcohol to the youth, in a well-tailored black evening dress, his subtle take on the subject was a winner. Androgynously appealing models, goth make-up and impeccable execution saw him walking away with a cash prize.

Sandalini Perera was First Runner- up and clinching the place of Second Runner-up was Sasinda Thathsarani.
