The Unity Mission Trust (UMT) will travel to Jaffna to conduct an integrated project from January 23 to 25. This Special Integrated Project to build the future of youth is a follow up programme that seeks to bring together student leaders who have attended Unity Camps and who will have recently left school.

The programme will work with, in particular rural youth leaders from the Wanni and elsewhere to enable them to build up their capacity to be more employable in any sector. In addition, all youth leaders both urban and rural will be given exposure, advice, guidance and mind-development training on very specific topics that will help make them more successful and also make them develop into being even more valuable to the communities they belong, and ultimately to Sri Lanka.

This project will take place with three components namely “Power One Hundred”;“Ray of Hope 3”, and the “2nd National Unity and Integration Awards.

The Power ONE Hundred Programme is essentially tailor made to empower and enable the Young Leaders to enhance their skills and assist them in finding their own ground in a world of endless opportunities.

Ray of Hope is an annual event on UMT’s calendar, which now hosts the Annual National Unity and Integration Awards. It is held in conjunction with the Power ONE Hundred Programme. The Ray of Hope and Unity and Integration Awards Ceremony will be held in the evening of January 24, at Chundikuli Girls’ College, Jaffna.

The Annual National Unity and Integration Awards focuses on recognising outstanding Youth Leaders under 21 years of age, who have made contributions in their own individual ways towards fostering unity and integration across Sri Lanka. The awards will be held in the presence of representatives of civil society, with distinguished members of the community being a part of the proceedings.

The purpose of these Awards is to recognise, reward and encourage the award winners, as well as to encourage the entire school system to make a special contribution to Sri Lanka’s future!

UMT is a non-profit voluntary trust governed by a Board of Trustees and by a fully volunteer based Executive and an Operations Committee, which is strengthened by a regional network of youth leaders spread across Sri Lanka as well as a National Youth Leadership Council.
