As a part of the 66th Republic Day celebrations of India, the Indian Cultural Centre is organising an evening of musical fusion by renowned Indian sitarist Niladri Kumar and his troupe, on January 25 at 7 p.m. at the Bishop’s College, Auditorium, Colombo.

The programme is being organised with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the India-Sri Lanka Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Art, Government of Sri Lanka, Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo and Lanka IOC Ltd.

Niladri Kumar is an instrumentalist with a unique repertoire ranging from traditional, classical compositions on the sitar to innovative, electrifying renditions. He has received several prestigious awards and valued titles such as Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah KKhan Yuva Purakar for Hindustani Instrumental Music,the Sanskriti Award, the Jadubhatta Puraskar, the MTV IMMIES Best Classical/ Fusion Instrumental Album –IF, Shanmukha Shree, Surmani, GIMA for the Best Instrumental album for AURA and many more.

Niladrikumar will be accompanied by leading musicians Angelo Fernandes (keyboards), Gino Rahul Banks (drum), Ramdas Gajanan Palsule (Tabla) and Deepak Jagdish Bhatt (dhol).
